It does this by firstly drawing the ink from the ink cartridge down into a set of microscopic nozzles inside a part known as a printhead. This print head acts as the ink applicator to the page. These nozzles also have a micro-heating element built-in, and when switched on, the ink in the nozzle expands, and this produces a droplet which is forced out of the end of the nozzle and out onto the paper. As the ink is applied directly to the page from thousands of microscopic nozzles, the resolution is markedly superior to laser and dot matrix type printing technologies, making inkjet the preferred option when quality is demanded or preferred.  
  
  
• Ink additives as part of the particular Claria ink blend used in these cartridges maintain ink viscosity to ensure even and high page saturation from the first page to the last across the life of the cartridge. Other polymers in the mix act as a coolant to prevent printhead overstress failure.
  
  
• Designed for continuous running up to print speeds of up to 8.0 IPM pages per minute without failure.
  
  
• Utilise this ink cartridge with advanced printer setting alterations and particular media to produce even higher vibrancy for vivid photo artwork and prints. Additionally, for text and fine line graph work, operators can use other settings that can reduce ink consumption and thereby extend the life of the cartridge. This is known as DRAFT mode, and it essentially tones down the concentration levels of the ink output by switching off some of the print-head heating elements. Ideal for inter-office printing applications that do not necessarily require the very best print resolution. 
  
  
• Super-High optimised resolution levels of up to 5760 x 1440 DPI can be realised thanks to the combination Epson's Variable Sized Droplet Technology. The print head associated with this cartridge has 180 microscopic nozzles which have been designed to provide a minimum ink droplet of only 1.5 picolitres, resulting in precise, detailed, beautifully rendered prints.
