  When setting the printer to produce the highest resolution, because the picolitre figure is smaller, the printer must make more passes, which mean that it takes longer to print the document or image. So there is a trade-off compromise here between achieving the best quality and speed for productivity.
  
  If the need is for maximum colour quality output to produce the most vibrant full-colour photos, then this compromise is made. 
  
  The number of ink nozzles also utilised in this operation also contributes to greater or less resolution and faster or slower print speeds. The more ink nozzles, the better the resolution, but the slower the print speed.
  
  
• Thermal inkjet is the technology that drives the imaging. This is a process that supplies the ink from the cartridge chamber to a heated ink nozzle where it then heated with a micro-sized heating (thermal) element which then forces or injects the ink onto and into the fibres of the paper.
  
  Because it is applied this way rather than like a laser printer, often the resolution is significantly higher.
  
  
• The cartridge has an ink volume of 4mls and a total of 672 print head nozzles ensuring a fine displacement of ink on the page.
