OKI Smart Managed Document Solutions Make It Easier For SMEs to Become More Efficient
Up until recently, managed print solutions and services were almost always seen as something that only large scaled organisations can employ. Even the providers of these solutions and services tailored their programmes in a way that was most beneficial to large firms and companies.
The logic behind this was simply the fact that providing managed print services to large organisations was about quality than quantity. This meant that whole teams could be assigned to individual projects and be on the same page.
Providing similar services to small to medium scaled organisations, on the other hand, required flexibility and versatility not only in the managed print solution programmes but also the way professionals dealt with clients. This is possibly the main reason why managed print solutions and services haven’t been available to Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the same scale as they’ve been available to their larger brethren.
However, the winds of change have been felt and the trends seem to be shifting towards SMEs. OKI has recently upgraded its managed print services programme to now target SMEs as well. The strategy behind this is no doubt about volume since there are many more SMEs out there than large scaled organisations.
The upgraded OKI programme has been dubbed Smart Managed Document Solutions by the business range printer manufacturing giant. The primary objective behind the Smart Managed Document Solutions programme is to help SMEs become more efficient and productive in their handling of documents, printing, and overall operations. This, no doubt, helps the financial aspect greatly as well.
The new Smart Managed Document Solutions programme will look at achieving two goals. The first is to help customers to make the whole process of managing and printing documents more streamlined in a manner that the end user saves a considerable amount of time.
Simultaneously, the Smart Managed Document Solutions programme looks to improve the document management process of the SMEs. Both these elements can add up to 75% savings in the short, medium, and long term. In terms of hidden print costs, these potential savings can translate up to 30%.
Experts predict that the benefits of the Smart Managed Document Solutions programme are considerable. Here are a few.
- Pay As You Go: The Smart Managed Document Solutions programme comes with a Pay As You Go option that will allow SMEs to gain access high end printing technology without tying up a huge chunk of their financial resources. Scalability becomes an easier option for businesses looking to grow and expand as well.
- External Print Job Assessments: The Smart Managed Document Solutions programme will assess all print jobs that are handled externally such as application forms, banners, and signage so as to find a financially and operationally viable option for doing the same internally.
- Third Party Management: Every aspect of the Smart Managed Document Solutions programme will be handled outside of the customer’s operational setup with a single point of contact and consolidated billing for greater convenience.
- Automatic Management of Inventory: Management of the devices such as stocking up consumables will be handled by people other than the customer company’s employees allowing the staff to focus on company related matters.
- Synergised Management: Management of hard and soft copy of documents will become more synergised and integrated owing to them flowing through a single centre of control. This will boost efficiency, productivity, and security for the customer company.
The OKI Smart Managed Document Solutions programme will be handled by the company through five distinct steps. The first step will be the assessment of the current printing needs and requirements of the customer company. This will include evaluation of potential opportunities for scaling up as well.
In the second step, the customer company will receive suggestions and recommendations from the Smart Managed Document Solutions programme designed to boost their efficiency. This will be followed by the implementation of these recommendations without the day to day operations being disrupted.
The fourth step will be managing the newly setup system to keep it operational. The final and fifth step will be a review of whether the new setup has helped boost the efficiency of the customer company.
Kodak Inkjet Printers Launched by Funai through Exclusive Licencing Agreement
It’s a well-known fact that modern day printers guzzle ink and toner like SUVs guzzle gasoline. It’s also widely recognised that most Original Equipment Manufacturers deliberately leave a percentage of the capacity of their cartridges empty because they want the cartridges to run out quickly.
This is the basic premise behind why people choose to use compatible or generic printer cartridges in the first place.
However, it seems that one OEM has decided that the razor strategy (sell razor for cheap, make insane profits on the replaceable blades) prevalent in the printer market is no longer feasible, viable, or relevant.
This OEM is Kodak and it has decided to change its strategy in collaboration with Funai Electric. Funai holds the worldwide licence for manufacturing Kodak printers. The new Kodak printer launched by Funai is called the Kodak Verite 55 and should be available in stores already.
The new printer is designed to cater to the increasing demand from consumers for a printer that isn’t wasteful with ink and that has a cartridge that doesn’t run out quickly. It is estimated that the Kodak Verite 55 can help users save up to 50% of their total printing costs.
Moreover, the printer is designed to support extra-large or XL cartridges, which means that users won’t have to replace their cartridges as quickly as they’ve gotten used to. These cartridges contain so much extra ink that they can double the print yield when compared to competitive cartridges from other manufacturers in the market. Black XL cartridges can print 400 pages while colour XL cartridges can print 360 pages.
The new printer also has all the bells and whistles that users have become used to in the modern age. The usual features the new printer has include copying, scanning, convenient user interface, and multiple connectivity options. There is also a Kodak Verite Printer App for people who want mobile functionality with their printers.
