Fuji Xerox Introduces 36 New Smart Printers with Key Innovations
With every new technological innovation, all the things shown in sci-fi films are coming alive. Fuji Xerox has provided its own entry to the world of sci-fi like inventions with a series of no less than 36 new smart printer models. The 36 Fuji Xerox Smart Printers can be considered for such imaginary awards because of two features.
The first of these features is that these Fuji Xerox Smart Printers will be able to tell when a human is in the room and get ready to serve the master by initiating and completing the warm up process in advance. The other feature that makes these Fuji Xerox Smart Printers special is translating a scanned document automatically to suit the individual printing it. For instance, if a Japanese document was scanned in Japan and it needed to be printed in Australia, then the Japanese content will be translated into English without the graphics on the document being affected. What both these features of the new Fuji Xerox Smart Printers show is that printers are getting smarter with every new variant.
The 36 Fuji Xerox Smart Printers can be divided into four separate categories which range from monochrome Multifunction Printers (MFCs) to colour MFCs. Apart from these basic categories, the 36 Fuji Xerox Smart Printers can also be separated into two broader categories. The first is that standard range which is dubbed the DocuCentre – V and the other is the customisable range which is dubbed the ApeosPort – V. The latter category of Fuji Xerox Smart Printers can be modified, personalised, customised, and tailored to suit the specific needs and requirements of every client.
The ability to recognise the presence of a human in the room is an effort on the part of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to make its devices more energy efficient. The underlying basis of the new technology is infrared cameras. The whole smart energy management system is called Smart WelcomEyes Advance 2. Models with this feature are equipped with an infrared camera and a standard camera on the front facing side.
The purpose of the infrared camera is to scan the room for hat signatures of human beings. Once it detects heat signatures, the standard camera comes into play. The purpose of the standard camera is to scan for human feet and recognise if they are moving towards the printer or away. If they’re moving towards the printer, the printer starts its warm-up process.
This is an energy saving feature simply because it will allow the printer to be in the standby mode longer. Along with this feature, the printers have other energy saving features as well. For instance, all Fuji Xerox Smart Printers have LED print heads and eco – toners designed to consume less power in a variety of ways.
Another great feature of the new Fuji Xerox Smart Printers is that when a document is scanned on them, it gets sent to the OEM’s cloud service. Once there, any document can be translated automatically to a language of choice. Currently, the OEM’s cloud service boasts of compatibility to languages like Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and English. There are even some less used languages such as Bahasa Malaysia.
According to the OEM, these translations are not meant to be used at a professional level which means that translated documents may not be accurate enough to be suitable for business or legal uses. Instead, the purpose of these automatic translations is to make it easier for employees of the same company from different regions coordinate better.
Since there is cloud storage being offered by the OEM with the new Fuji Xerox Smart Printers, you wouldn’t be surprised by the fact that each of these models is mobile friendly. For example, the Fuji Xerox Smart Printers are compatible with driverless android printing and Google Cloud printing as well as Air Print technology seen in Apple’s devices.
Similarly, it wouldn’t be a surprise that these printer models support access via NFC enabled smart cards. Additionally, some models even have facial recognition features.
In terms of print quality, there is a lot of flexibility within the range of 36 new Fuji Xerox Smart Printers. The lowest end models in the range boast of a printing resolution of about 1200 x 2400 dots per inch (dpi). The top most models in this range have a much high printing resolution at 2400 x 2400 dpi.
OKI Acquires Color Painter to Expand Its Wide Format Printers Range
OKI Data recently acquired the wide format printer business of Seiko Instruments. This acquisition resulted in newer wide format printers being added to the already impressive line of wide format devices being offered by OKI. The brands that OKI now has ownership on through this acquisition include Color Painter and Teriostar.
The highlight of the new line of printers is the Color Painter H2 – 1048. The H2 – 1048 is a grand format printer which, according to OKI, delivers ‘unmatched speed and quality’. This particular wide format printer model can handle media up to a width of 104 inches. While the H2 – 1048 is the highlight of the Color Painter line, there are other models suitable for other needs and applications in the series as well.
The Teriostar line acquired by OKI contains LED multifunction printers. These printers are suitable for applications pertaining to sectors such as CAD and mapping, architecture, engineering, and reprographics since they provide high resolution prints at high speeds.
OKI sees the acquisition of the Color Painter and Teriostar lines as a ‘key investment’ inside the professional printing sector. The OEM specified that this acquisition strengthens its leadership in the commercial printing sector. Moreover, the OEM also sees the high performance solutions segment of the commercial printing sector as a major growth area in the future. The company is already recognised for its proColor digital production printer series. The initial line expanded from its initial avatar to become relevant to a wide variety of different commercial printing applications.
