OEM Introduces Ricoh MP C407 & Ricoh MP C307 Colour A4 MFPs
This will be the fourth straight Ricoh related news on Office Hacks by Inkjet Wholesale. The last three reports included Ricoh receiving UKAS accredited ISO 12647 certification, the launch of Ricoh MP 402SPF, and the launch of Ricoh MP 601SPF along with 3 other printer models. For the sake of clarity, we’d like to specify that we’re in no way associated with Ricoh. It’s just that we trawl the industry for relevant news for our readers and Ricoh has featured prominently there recently. It could be a result of a concerted policy push, which is what it looks like to us since two of those three reports were about new printer models which fall under the same technology – Workstyle Innovation Technology.
Now, here’s a fourth report revolving around the launch of yet another couple of printer models based on the same technology – the Ricoh MP C407 and the Ricoh MP C307. Both these devices are colour laser Multifunction Printers (MFPs) that are explicitly designed to boost productivity. Being MFPs, the Ricoh MP C407 and Ricoh MP C307 have faxing, scanning, copying, and printing as their core functions. The fact that they’re based on Workstyle Innovation Technology means that they simplify operations for users by reducing the number of steps needed to complete a task. Workstyle Innovation Technology also means that these devices are capable of storing information on the cloud.
The Ricoh MP C407 and Ricoh MP C307 are high-speed printing devices but they don’t compromise on quality either. The Ricoh MP C407 is rated at about 36 colour pages per minute (ppm) while the Ricoh MP C307 is rated at 31 ppm. For monochrome prints, the rating is 42 ppm. With respect to quality, the MFPs can print at resolutions up to 1200 x 1200 dots per inch (dpi).
The devices also specialise in digitising documents with incredible scan speeds reaching up to 80 images per minute (ipm). There’s a Single Pass Document Feeder (SPDF) with which the user will be able to get two sided scans with maximum convenience. Furthermore, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) has provided a legal-sized platen that increases the versatility of these devices with respect to sizes.
The engine behind the scenes in both, the Ricoh MP C407 and the Ricoh MP C307, is highlighted by 2GB RAMs and 1.46 GHz Intel Processors. Storage will also not be a problem for potential buyers because of the presence of 320GB storage space on the Document Server.
Coming back to the Workstyle Innovation Technology, the Ricoh MP C407 and the Ricoh MP C307 have Smart Operation Panels as is the case with all Ricoh printer models using this technology. The Smart Operation Panels measure 256.54mm and add some really strong flexibility to workflows and data flows. For instance, these panels make sharing data easier between multiple MFPs, workgroups, and offices. These control panels are compatible with Ricoh Smart Device Connector, an app from the OEM designed for facilitating mobile usage of the Ricoh MP C407 and the Ricoh MP C307.
As is obvious, this app will make mobile printing, copying, scanning, and sharing information via mobile devices of all types including Air Print and Android. Near Field Communications (NFC) is also a feature of the app. The app is compatible with a wide variety of Ricoh products such as projectors and Interactive Whiteboards as well. Moreover, the Smart Device Connector makes third-party cloud services such as Dropbox and Google Drive accessible to users. Finally, the app supports guest connections to Ricoh devices wherein a visitor to the network can print or share documents on their phones or cloud services.
Post-Split Xerox Reports Declines in both Revenue and Profits for both Q4 and 12 Months
At the beginning of the last month, we spoke about how Xerox had completed the long-running Conduent split. Looking at the full financial picture of Xerox now, it seems that they’ll have to pull up their pants not just because of the Conduent separation but also general financial results. In the fourth quarter of 2016 as well as the entire year, Xerox has reported significant losses in revenues and profits.
According to reports, Xerox’s revenues in the entire 2016 year were to the tune of $10.78 billion which was a considerable drop of around 6 percent from the previous year’s turnover of $11.47 billion. If a drop of six percent in revenues isn’t alarming enough, the OEM’s pre-tax profits were even scarier. In 2016, Xerox’s pre-tax profits were $568 million while its pre-tax profits in 2015 were $924 million. This was a massive drop to the tune of 39 percent.
The numbers for the fourth quarter of 2016 were similar in nature. Xerox’s profits saw a drop of 38 percent in the fourth quarter as the OEM only managed to garner $179 million. In the fourth quarter of the previous year, the profits were in the range of $287 million which means the drop was equivalent to 38 percent. Revenues for the fourth quarter of 2016 dropped too from $2.95 billion in 2015 to $2.73 billion. This means that the revenue drop in the fourth quarter was 7.2 percent.
It is worth noting that because the Conduent separation was completed, these numbers only reflect Xerox’s performance. The OEM stated that Conduent’s finances will be reported separately.
The separation of Conduent, itself, resulted in significant expenses incurred by Xerox. As of now, Xerox has already incurred a loss of $159 million because of the procedures pertaining to the separation. In the current year, according to Xerox, it expects to add to that number by another $15 million taking the total losses incurred due to Conduent separation to $174 million. This sum matches earlier estimates from the OEM of potential losses in the range of $175 million and $200 million.
