HP Deskjet 3700 Is the World’s Smallest All-In-One, As per HP
You know; many experts and industry watchers ruled out HP Inc. once the coming of the great divide was announced. A lot of them believed that even though the two resultant companies would be leaner, they wouldn’t have enough to truly grow. Seeing at the speed with which HP Inc. is expanding into new markets and launching new products, it is fair to say that at least one of the two HP companies is on its way to proving those detractors wrong.
You see we’re about to hit the hat-trick with respect to posts about new launches from this particular Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). The first of this hat-trick was posted in June, 2016 and revolved around the launch of eight new Indigo and PageWide Web Presses. The second came in the first week of July, 2016 and focused on the OEM launching three new Latex printers. The completion of the hat-trick happens with the introduction of the HP DeskJet 3700, a machine that can print, scan, and copy. The DeskJet 3700 is also a printer that HP Inc. has dubbed the “world’s smallest all-in-one printer”.
The title that HP has tacked onto the HP DeskJet 3700 is not a misnomer either and is fairly valid. The reason for this is that, within its class, this all-in-one is actually half the size of the next best option. Notably, while the earlier two launches were for machines aimed at the commercial and industrial sectors, the HP DeskJet 3700 all-in-one is a consumer printer. In fact, in HP’s words, this device has been especially designed for the “style savvy, always connected” consumer.
The reason why this phrasing has been used is in the features of the printer. For example, the machine celebrates the digital native lifestyle by catering to its inherent requirements. The HP DeskJet 3700 all-in-one supports all modern day mobile operating systems including iOS, Android, and Windows as well as offers the facility of connecting mobile devices through Wi-Fi Direct. It can be used to print directly from social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, and even a phone’s camera roll. The HP DeskJet 3700 is even compatible with Facebook Messenger and allows users to print directly from the app through the HP Printbot.
The “style savvy” phrasing refers to the fact that the HP DeskJet 3700 all-in-one printer is available in a wide variety of colours. Moreover, each of the colours chosen has been picked for their vivacity. Colours that this printer is available in range from the neutral “Stone” to fancy options such as “Electric Blue” and “Sea Grass Green” with newer options expected in holiday periods.
The HP DeskJet 3700 all-in-one printer also comes ready for HP’s Instant Ink system. This system allows the printer to order fresh ink cartridges from the relevant seller, whenever the installed cartridges start running low. With this system, the user never has to deal with a situation where he needs to print but doesn’t have the ink to do so. The HP DeskJet 3700 all-in-one printer is also one of the most economical all-in-one machines in the market. It is priced at less than $70.
Robustelli Acquisition Strengthens Epson’s Position in Industrial Digital Textile Segment
Like HP Inc., Epson has also been busy in recent months with launches of new printers. We reported on two such launches in June, 2016. At the beginning of the month, it was two new WorkForce models, while at the end of the month; it was the super small Epson Expression Home XP 430. It’s also worth noting that the 430 was actually comparable to the HP DeskJet 3700.
Epson, like many OEMs, has been focusing on the commercial printing sector too. To this end, the company has decided to strengthen its position in the industrial digital textile sector by acquiring controlling stakes in Italian manufacturer, Fratelli Robustelli S. r. l. There are significant benefits for both parties in this agreement. For instance, with this agreement, Robustelli will gain access to global markets where it can market its products.
From the perspective of Epson, the agreement made sense because it gives them access to considerable expertise in the development of digital inkjet textile printers. This acquisition will also result in the expansion of Epson’s offered fleet of such printers. Thus, it isn’t surprising that Epson and Robustelli have, as a part of the deal, agreed to initiate Research & Development projects.
Essentially, it can be said that the purpose of the agreement is to drive synergies between the two companies. Market dynamics also make the agreement between Robustelli and Epson highly beneficial. For example, according to estimates, the global digital textile printing market is expected to grow at an amazing rate of 25 percent on an annual basis from hereon in. As a result, the agreement will allow Epson to cater to the growing global demand for new digital textile printers while Robustelli will be able to leverage the global infrastructure of Epson to reach even more consumers.
The primary product line offered by Robustelli is called the Monna Lisa. Epson has revealed that it will soon be making the Monna Lisa line of digital textile printers available in other parts of the world. This agreement is a direct extension of the collaboration between Epson and Robustelli. The two OEMs have been working together since 2003 towards the development of the already mentioned Monna Lisa line of printers.
The acquisition is based around Epson’s acquisition of 100 percent capital in Robustelli. The change in ownership will also result in change in leadership with the Chief Operating Officer of Epson’s Professional Printing Operations Division, Sunao Morata, being placed at the helm of Robustelli. Morata will be taking over the position of President.
