Ricoh MP C2004 and MP C2504 Leveraging Workstyle Innovation Technology Components Launched
Only last month, we reported on a launch from this Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in the form of the Ricoh Pro 8220s series. It wasn’t just the last month, though. Ricoh has been quite busy this year actually. Before the last month’s launch, Ricoh launched the Ricoh MP CW2201SP in August and no less than five multifunction printers including the Ricoh MP 305SPF in July. Now, the OEM is stepping things up further with the launch of two new printers.
The two new printer models that the company has launched – the Ricoh MP C2004 and the Ricoh MP C2504 – are directed straight at the small to medium scale enterprises (SMEs). The Ricoh MP C2004 is capable of printing at speeds up to 20 pages per minute while the Ricoh MP C2504 can manage a maximum speed of 25 ppm.
The Ricoh MP C2004 and the MP C2504 are both incredibly quiet printers, something that their competitors can’t claim. Their quiet performance is based on their sound dampening design which incorporates noise absorbing materials and an anti-vibration system. Furthermore, banner printing is possible with these printers too. They sport special guides and rollers, which prevent the paper from curling and becoming harder to handle post-printing.
Both of these new models are colour multifunction printers, as you can no doubt tell from their model numbers. What you can’t tell from their model numbers, however, is that these printers draw on a lot of components from Ricoh’s Workstyle Innovation Technology to deliver innovative and creative solutions to users.
The primary objective of Ricoh’s Workstyle Innovation Technology is to bring office automation within the reach of general users. Essentially, these components give users of these printers numerous functional benefits such as better mechanics for sharing information, increased conservation of energy and resources, and improved overall productivity. For example, one of the components the Ricoh MP C2004 and MP C2504 have taken on from Workstyle Innovation Technology is the Super VGA Smart Operation Panel that measures a very functionally-supportive 256.54mm.
The Smart Operation Panel allows automated flow of information since it makes it possible for users to customise the menus available to them. The facility of having menu options customised to specific business processes has the potential to directly maximise the productivity and efficiency of a business. For example, this functionality can be used by operators to create one-touch shortcuts for assignments and tasks that are repetitive in nature.
Similarly, information that operators need at regular intervals can be displayed on the screen by pinning informational widgets. To leverage these new functionalities, the operators don’t even have to go through elaborate training programmes. In fact, for most of them, learning this would be easy because the Smart Operation Panel can be used in a manner similar to smartphones and tablets. This means that users can flick, swipe, and pinch items on the screen.
Another Workstyle Innovation Technology component that the Ricoh MP C2004 and the MP C2504 boast of is the Ricoh Smart Device Connector app. The purpose of this app is to make it easier for information share and transfer between mobile devices and the printers. This app also facilitates better connectivity between these printers and other Ricoh devices such as interactive projectors and whiteboards.
Apart from simplifying and streamlining work flows which boost productivity, the Ricoh MP C2004 and the MP C2504 also supplement energy conservation through various features. One of these is the motion sensor based wake function. In sleep mode, the printers conserve energy but when the installed motion sensor identifies movement, it wakes up the key functions of the printer. Effectively, by the time the user arrives at the printer, they’ve been prepped for work. From trigger to functionality, the printer takes only a single second.
The Ricoh MP C2004 and the MP C2504 can be further augmented with optional security features. These include data overwrite functionality, data encryption, and card authentication control.
33 New Printers Launched By HP in India in a Single Day!
HP has laid down the gauntlet and revealed its long-term intentions in all developing markets by releasing an amazing 33 new printer models in India. Of the 33 new printer models, 17 can be segmented in the A4 market while the rest i.e. 16 are for the A3 market segment. The reason why this new move is being seen as a statement of intent from HP by many industry watchers is that India is one of the fastest growing printer markets in the world.
While printing in the rest of the world is slowing down, it has remained steady and even grown in recent years since the South East Asian is still to completely embrace the digital revolution in the rest of the world. For example, internet penetration, a harbinger of digitisation of documents, is fairly low in India at approximately 15.1 percent.
More important than the developing nature of the Indian market is the move from HP to launch A3 printers. HP is the global leader with respect to the A4 printer market segment and boasts of a market share of around 40 percent. The OEM’s market share of the A3 printer segment is the direct opposite of their share in the A4 market segment. HP, as of now, only has five percent share of the A3 market segment.
Thus, the fact that they’ve targeted the A3 printer segment in India means that they’re concertedly pushing to capture more of this lucrative sector. In fact, the push towards A3 market was one of the strategies specified by HP Inc. after the great HP split that also resulted in HP Enterprise. Another strategy that HP Inc. is following to improve its bottom line is the push into the 3D market.
The newly launched printers include printer models from various HP series including the HP LaserJet series, HP ScanJet series, and the HP LaserJet multifunction series amongst others. While many other printer series have been launched, printer models falling in the aforementioned series all utilise predictive analytics to cater to their users better. The same printers saw their global launch in Boston, US last month, which was followed by their Asian launch in China, last week.
