The Office Jester… every office needs one to show everyone the light side of technology orientation
New technologies are a boon for most businesses and the bane for most employees. This directly results in technology orientations being a pain for most employees and a promise for most businesses. At no time in the history of humanity were new technologies and business technology orientations as important as they are today. The reason is simple.
It is the speed with which the world is throwing innovations at us. Even the fastest man on Earth, The Flash (not Usain Bolt, silly, everyone knows The Flash is real), would have trouble coping with all these innovations. Can you imagine The Flash sitting through a new technology orientation lecture? It would suck the Speed Force out of him.
Jokes aside, technology orientations are a good way to get your employees up to speed on any new technologies your business is planning to adopt. In fact, a technology orientation with all your employees is also good for assessing the impact that technology may have on your operations. This impact could be positive or negative. Don’t believe us? Check this video out.
The First Ever Technology Orientation
Personally, we do like these videos where modern day things are depicted in ancient or medieval times. They’re quite intelligent and innovative. It’s almost like they’re a new technology or something. If you want a technology orientation for these videos, please leave us a comment.
Alternatively, if you’re an old school stand and speak video producer, then you should know that you’re a thing of the past! You’ll need to retrain as a scriptwriter who creates videos where modern concepts are depicted in the past. Ahem, cough.
This video is funny but it is also satirical in a way and satire, as you may know, is the smarted form of sarcasm (no, it’s not the smartest form of the devil, those are satyrs). This video comments on how new technologies almost always lead to job losses and how the individuals working those jobs almost always tend to realise at the very end. It’s all a bit dark really.
The video’s reference to the lack of time in those days is smart. Our favourite was “time when crickets shut up until the time when we go back to our huts”. Although, “time when the sun is hottest” and “time when we all get hungry” are also good. If we were to use “time when we all get hungry”, we would never get any point across, since we’re always hungry.
These guys missed a beat with the sale pitch about bronze, though. They should’ve done something with a presentation. Maybe, a presentation in the form of a skit happening behind them. Perhaps, budgets were limited.
During the pitch, the best part of the video came. “Zeitgeisty”! What a brilliant rendition of the old word, eh! We’re gonna use that on our boss because he’s definitely zeitgeisty!
